Client Overview

Expedia Group is an American online travel shopping company for consumer and small business travel. Its websites, which are primarily travel fare aggregators and travel metasearch engines, include CarRentals.com, Expedia.com, HomeAway, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, Orbitz, Travelocity, trivago and Vrbo.

Hotel Collect is one line of business when the booking happens through Expedia and customer pays at Hotel.

Project Scope

Get Clean: One-time data cleansing of the customer includes data consolidation, data profiling, address cleansing, De-duplication of data based on the variety of business rules. There are about 1.2 million customer and address required to be cleaned for de-duplication and address cleansing.

Business Situation

Due to the duplication of the data business was calling the same hotel customer multiple time to for Hotel Collect business. This creates frustration with the customers and the invoice reconciliation becomes hard to manage. Hence the project One Customer One Call has been initiated to have a clean Master Data. Goal of the project is to call the customer once for the collection process

Technical Solution

Chainsys deployed AppMDM to do the following activities – Data Extract from Oracle EBS R12 , profile, cleanse and standardize address, find the duplicate customers based on the multiple rules 

Solutions

Consolidation of different set of customers explained below.  There are three different types of customers Hotel Collect (HC) Properties,  HC SLE and MESO/Others. There are about 12 different rules for each type of customers run at the different stages.  Below diagram explains the different stages of consolidation.
