A Complex data migration from Legacy systems to the Cloud

Project Scope

Client implemented Oracle ERP Cloud and engaged ChainSys as its data migration partner utilizing the ChainSys dataZap offering. As part of the Oracle Cloud deployment, Client needed data migration from legacy systems for more than thirty five objects that were primarily loaded to the following tracks - Procurement, Inventory & Payable Systems. The key challenge was around multiple source systems and transformation requirements to assure data readiness for loading to the Oracle Cloud target system. This was easily accomplished through dataZap, which offered automation capability for extraction and transformation.

Business Situation

Client’s legacy systems offered exceptional challenges since the data had to be cleansed as well as transformed prior to migration to Oracle Cloud ERP. Also, getting a view of the data transformation requirements was the key to success, which was enabled by putting functional teams in-place that had knowledge in both the legacy and Oracle target application.

Technical Situation

ChainSys deployed dataZap to help with the data migration. Data was directly extracted from multiple legacy systems via templates configured specifically for each system. The data transformations were incorporated into dataZap, which assured that source data was correctly mapped to the target Oracle Cloud application. dataZap was used for automated loading into the Oracle Cloud via FBDI / Web services. Data cleansing was carried out by ChainSys’s dataZen.

Solutions
